I'm Clair ~ an experienced independent midwife based in Barnstaple, North Devon. I support women planning a home birth, offering individualised midwifery care built around the relationship that we develop together.

I believe women deserve the time to ask questions, explore their options and feel genuinely involved in decisions about their care. That means getting to know you, understanding what's important to you and providing thoughtful, evidence-informed support throughout your pregnancy, birth and early days with your baby.

With over a decade of midwifery experience, a first-class BSc (Hons) Degree in Midwifery and a background in maternity research, I bring together clinical knowledge, practical experience and a deep respect for each woman's individual journey.

As your independent midwife, I offer continuity of care, giving us the opportunity to build a trusting relationship before your baby arrives. Our appointments take place in the comfort of your own home, with time for proper conversations about your hopes, questions and concerns.

I'm passionate about supporting women to make informed choices about their care and physiological birth/ My role is to provide skilled midwifery support, help you understand your options and work with you to plan care that reflects your individual needs.

A little about me

I'm a midwife, a mum of three and a woman who understands from personal experience that no two births are ever the same.

My own experiences included an induction with my first baby, a quick transfer to hospital for my second and a home birth with my third. They've given me a very personal appreciation of how differently birth can unfold, and why having your choices heard and respected matters so much.

Alongside my professional experience, these experiences continue to shape the way I care for women today.
